Jenny's time spent in government communications taught her no one was going to hold her hand and the expectations were high.
As a strategist and educator, she empowers government agencies and small businesses to improve their communication, build long-term trust and develop meaningful relationships with their communities. Jenny has extensive experience in crisis communications, social media strategy and management, media relations and marketing.
During her time as a fire service Public Information Officer (PIO), she built her agency's communications program from the ground up and has trained countless students as a FEMA Basic PIO instructor in Washington State. She hosts her own trainings to help government communicators hone their skills and be effective in their role.
She has worked hundreds of large-scale incidents and events over the years, both as a fire department and Type III Incident Management Team PIO. Whether at an emergency scene, working in a Joint Information Center or being in front of the camera, Jenny doesn't shy away from difficult situations; she thrives on them and her experience sets her apart from the rest.
She earned her Bachelor's Degree from the University of Washington and Master's Degree from Southern New Hampshire University, both in Communications. She is currently enrolled in FEMA's Executive Public Information Officer program.
Jenny and her husband live in the Pacific Northwest with their amazing daughters and ridiculous dogs (a lab and a Boston Terrier). When they aren't working, they are most likely planning their next road trip to somewhere with water, mountains or both.
Life is complicated enough. I believe in making social media and marketing as easy and streamlined as possible.
Clear, effective communication is the key to solving almost any problem. This is the foundation of my strategy.
